Arno de Quaasteniet new member of the board of Hartwig Medical Foundation
Hartwig Medical Foundation is pleased to announce that as of October 1, 2024, Arno de Quaasteniet (1977) has been appointed as Chief Information Officer and the fourth member of its board. Experienced board member Arno joins Hartwig at a pivotal time in its transformation from a high-tech sequencing pioneer into a cutting-edge IT organization.
Growth
Hartwig Medical Foundation has rapidly expanded its national and international partnerships to enhance access to critical data that improves patient care, care assessments, and research. Important conditions for the effective use and analysis of that data are a large-scale data processing and storage infrastructure supported by a professional software and algorithm development organization.
As always, security is paramount. The responsibilities associated with this IT portfolio have to date been divided among the existing board members. Due to our recent growth and repositioning of Hartwig as a cutting-edge IT organization, the IT responsibilities have now been combined into a single, new portfolio.
Removing barriers
Arno de Quaasteniet explains why he is happy to be part of Hartwig: “Hartwig is a nonprofit organization that seeks employees who can make an impact, and it is a pleasure for me to be part of this. The open character of the organization also appeals to me. For example, much of the software we create is open source, so everyone can benefit from the knowledge developed by Hartwig.
Our aim is to maximize the use of data as support for making decisions for the treatment of cancer. I want to help remove the barriers to this type of decision-making process. At Hartwig, we achieve this by listening carefully and cooperating closely with professionals.
For example, we can help hospitals to automate the process of collecting information about the patient and the available clinical trials and present the most relevant trials in a report. This can save hospitals a lot of work and ensure that the attending physician has a complete overview of the potential treatment options for each patient.
This is a big sector, and we can’t do all this alone, but we can help by showing what is possible. To make an impact, we seek to collaborate with people and organizations both at home and abroad. I’m looking forward to that immensely.”
