Hartwig Medical Foundation Canada, the Canadian branch of Hartwig Medical Foundation, is a not-for-profit organization focused on building software and infrastructure to support cancer genomics and treatment decision-making.
Hartwig Medical Foundation Canada was founded in 2018 and based in Toronto. We have a team of 7 which works closely with our colleagues in Australia and the Netherlands.
Its mission is to develop systems that comprehensively support the metastatic cancer patients of today and tomorrow through state-of-the-art molecular diagnostics delivered at speed and scale.

Cancer is caused by DNA mutations. There are an increasing number of drugs available that act on specific errors in the DNA of an individual patient’s tumor. A drug that doesn’t fit, like a key in a lock, will not work, while the risk of side effects remains.
