DR-484 Analysis of germline mutations to discover novel biomarkers for prognosis and treatment response
This project investigates how inherited (germline) genetic mutations affect cancer outcomes. While some well-known “driver” mutations, such as those in BRCA1 and BRCA2, are known to increase cancer risk, many other mutations, especially the less-studied “passengers”, may also influence prognosis. By analyzing large-scale genetic and clinical data from cancer patients, we aim to uncover how these inherited mutations impact survival, disease progression, and treatment response. These findings could therefore help improve cancer screening and risk prediction, and ultimately, provide more personalized care for patients.
