DR-492 Whole genome sequencing of small intestinal adenocarcinomas
Small intestinal adenocarcinoma (SIA) is a rare cancer with poor survival outcomes and limited treatment options. Knowledge of its biology is scarce, hindering progress. Whole genome sequencing (WGS) enables comprehensive analysis of DNA alterations including driver gene profiles, mutagenic signatures, structural alterations and inference of epigenetic patterns through regional mutational density, and has already advanced understanding of other gastrointestinal cancers. This project uses WGS of SIA to compare its molecular profile with related gastrointestinal cancers. Gained insights may support improved diagnosis, therapy selection, and survival outcomes for patients with SIA.
