DR-357 Expanded Structural Variant Signatures and their Role in Predicting Chemotherapy Sensitivity
The type of genetic alteration that affects the largest fraction of the genome in cancer is alterations in chromosome structure, known as structural variants (SVs). Different cancers exhibit different patterns of SVs, which can indicate DNA damage type, repair ability, and sensitivity to treatments. By analyzing genomic variants including SVs in patient tumors and patient response to therapies, we propose to improve detection methods of these patterns and evaluate the relationships between SV signatures and sensitivity to cancer treatments. Our work will result in new insights about DNA damage and repair defects in various cancers and in SV-based biomarkers of sensitivity to treatments.
