DR-407 Liver metastases exhibit a distinct myeloid-dominated tumor microenvironment characterized by dense infiltration of VEGFR1+ VEGF-A-secreting macrophages
Liver metastases (LM) are a major obstacle for patients with advanced non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer. We stratified 1,713 treatment-naïve patients included in two clinical trials based on the presence of liver metastases. We revealed that anti-VEGF treatment improves survival specifically for the subcohort of patients with liver metastases. Analyses of public RNAseq data revealed high abundance of macrophages in the liver that express VEGF-A and VEGF-R1, targets of antiangiogenic treatments. HATWIG cohort data will be used for the investigation of the features of Tumor Microenvironment (TME), specifically the abundance of VEGF-A-secreting VEGF-R1+ macrophages in the liver metastasis as compared to the other metastatic sites. The TME characteristics of liver metastases will be investigated in the light of tumor mutational burden and potential confounding effect of origin of the primary tumor.
