DR-409 NoCoSMiCC: Non-coding somatic mutations in colorectal cancer
Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a significant malignancy and represents the third most common cancer and second most common cause of cancer associated deaths globally. The identification of additional mutations involved in CRC tumorigenesis is therefore necessary to aid our understanding of the associated mechanisms and facilitate the development of novel therapeutic strategies. This project will use publicly available whole genome sequencing data to identify candidate driver mutations in non-coding regions of the genome. A multi-omics data approach will be used to define specific regulatory elements in colorectal tissue and prioritise mutations with likely functional consequence.
